Rendering to pdf, jpg or png format

Modified on Thu, 11 Apr 2019 at 03:31 PM

To complete your project to a print-friendly format, click on the Finalize tab, then click on the Export to PDF, JPG  or PNG option.

Rendered files will be found in Documents\Memento\Projects.

Note that you must save your project as before finalizing it, and a subscription is required to render.

After rendering, you can send your files to your printing service of choice. Most printing services accept multi-page pdf files directly or jpg files dropped into a file uploader service.

A warning message may appear, prompting you to review potential problems in your project.

If you have already reviewed these items, then proceed to render.

If you have not already created an account and subscribed, you will be invited to do so at this point.

Complete your account registration and subscribe, or if you already have an account, sign in at the bottom of the Account Registration window.

For your security, you will need to login once per session. Your credentials are not stored on your computer between sessions.

The Finalize window displays your render options.
First, give your project a name. It will display your Memento project name by default, but you can create a custom file name. Learn more about export file name options, including using index tags.

WARNING: Avoid using non-alphanumeric characters in your file name to ensure it will be compatible with your computer and your printer's uploader system. Do not use punctuation or special characters such as $%^& in your file name.

Render Settings

Under Render options, choose where your pages will be trimmed.

  • Render Canvas only will trim your project exactly on its dimensions. No bleed inflate will be added. Use this if your design will be printed on an untrimmed sheet.
  • Choose Canvas + Bleed to trim at the Bleed edge. Bleed is added as per your printing service's recommendations, to slightly inflate the page so as to avoid cutting off a part of your design when the page is trimmed.
  • Choose Canvas + Bleed + Crop Marks to trim at the Bleed edge and include cropmarks. Use this option if required by your printing service.

Spread

Spreads is greyed out since composites are built on single sheets.

Format

Under the Format options, choose the file format (pdf or jpg).

PDF files may be rendered with additional options.

  • Layers and vectors will produce a pdf with every component of your page on a separate layer, and renders text into vector format (for increased sharpness).
  • Layers and vectors format pdf will increase the size of your file, whereas a flattened pdf will minimize the size of the file.
  • A third option to render the project to layers with flattened text (non-vector) is also available.

Because PNG files support transparency, they will render with will render with the background knockout out. Your composite can then be used in other editing software.

PDF format also offers the option of creating a single multipage file or multiple single page files.

JPG and PNG format will simply render a series of flattened single-page files.

Last, choose your dpi.  Your printing service provider will provide guidelines on this value.

Generally, 300 dpi is the standard for a quality print resolution. Any larger amount only unnecessarily bloats your file size, making it harder to upload to your printing company.

Upon completing your render preferences, click RENDER to produce the files. Rendering can take some time as Memento Composite is gathering all the information from your original source images to create high quality output.

You will be prompted to open the files, view the folder where the files are located (by default, they are in folders found in Documents\Memento\Projects) and/or close the Finalization window. You can review the completed output, re-render if required, and/or send it off to your client for review, or to your printing service of choice as per their recommended method.
